How to choose vacuum membrane press adhesives

The chemical name of vacuum membrane press adhesive is water-based polyurethane adhesive, which can also be called vacuum membrane glue. Vacuum membrane press adhesive is widely used in furniture manufacturing, electronic products, medical equipment, automobile production, and other fields. It is a high-performance, environmentally friendly adhesive. To help furniture factories and traders better understand vacuum membrane press adhesive, Blue Rhino Adhesive will explain from multiple angles how to choose a vacuum membrane press adhesive.

What is vacuum membrane press adhesives

Vacuum membrane press adhesive is a water-based polyurethane glue. Because it needs to be used in a vacuum environment, some furniture factories also call it vacuum membrane press glue. Vacuum membrane press glue is non-toxic and environmentally friendly, with no irritating odor, no formaldehyde, high temperature resistance, high bonding strength, etc., so it is deeply loved by furniture manufacturing factories.

During the production process, the surface of the MDF or low-density board is polished smooth, and then the vacuum membrane press adhesive is sprayed on the surface of the board. After the water in the glue evaporates, the board is placed in a vacuum machine to start bonding. The machine is set to high temperature and negative pressure. After the PVC film is softened by high temperature, it is adsorbed on the board and bonded by vacuum membrane press adhesive.

What is vacuum membrane press adhesives used for

Vacuum membrane press adhesive performs well in the vacuum forming process and can bond PVC film to MDF board in a very short time, achieving high-efficiency bonding between board and film. Vacuum membrane press adhesive is mostly used in the manufacture of wooden doors, cabinets, wardrobes, handicrafts, speakers, and other products in the wood processing industry.

How to use vacuum membrane press adhesives

1. Grind the surface and sides of the board to ensure that it is flat and smooth.

2. Choose a PVC film of appropriate thickness.

3. According to the thickness of the film and the need for high temperature resistance, ask the adhesives supplier to provide suitable vacuum membrane press adhesives.

4. Spray the adhesives evenly on the board (the amount of glue applied to grooves and shaped parts needs to be increased) and place it in a dust-free open space.

5. Set the temperature and pressure of the machine according to the thickness of the film.

6. After 30 minutes, place the board into the machine for vacuum environment bonding film.

7. After the vacuum forming is completed, wait for the finished product to reach its natural temperature and cut off any excess film.

What are the factors that determine the quality of furniture vacuum membrane press processing

1. Type, density, moisture content, surface flatness, etc. of the board.

2. Viscosity, temperature resistance, adhesion, etc. of vacuum membrane press adhesive.

3. Thickness, dyne value, type, etc. of the film.

4. Proficiency in the operator and machine parameter settings, etc.

How to choose vacuum membrane press adhesives

1. Adhesion

Adhesion is the core indicator for judging adhesives. After the excellent vacuum film adhesive is bonded to the board, the PVC film is peeled off and you can see that the film is covered with sawdust and the wood is torn.

2. Particle size

The particle size determines the final aesthetics of the furniture. If excellent vacuum film glue is used for bonding, the finished furniture will have a smooth surface without any graininess. On the contrary, if inferior glue is used, pitting will appear on the surface, affecting the aesthetics of the furniture.

3. Temperature resistance

Since cabinets need to be frequently exposed to high temperature environments, furniture also needs to experience high temperature during sea transportation. Therefore, the temperature resistance of vacuum membrane press glue is a key factor in selection. Excellent vacuum membrane press glue can withstand high temperatures of around 80°C.

4. Price

Excellent PUD emulsion determines the stability of adhesive use and storage. The price of emulsion raw materials of large companies is relatively high.

In summary, the key factors for choosing vacuum film lamination are adhesion, particle size, temperature resistance, price, etc. Blue Rhino Adhesive has more than 10 years of experience in the research development and application of vacuum membrane press adhesives.
